[This is my first web novel. I started writing without knowing a thing, so please forgive me for the result! Fortunately, my pen name is Jun Mo Jian Xiao.]
[Sorry! My second novel didn't do well either. Please check out my third novel, The Tale of Daiyu's Journey West: Seeking the Scriptures, or Wrecking the Place?]
At their first meeting beneath Five-Finger Mountain, Wukong opened his mouth and called her Master. Daiyu coolly retorted, "You've got a pair of sparkling eyes, yet you call me Master without looking. Can't you see I'm a woman?"
Guanyin handed her the golden headband. Daiyu smiled faintly. "Who in the Three Realms doesn't have a headband of their own?"
When they encountered the Six-Eared Bandits on the road, Daiyu held up the flowered cap and said with a grin to Wukong, "Your big sister Guanyin had this custom-made for you. Want to put it on?"
At Eagle's Sorrow Gorge, they met the White Dragon. The dragon said, "I am the dignified crown prince of the Western Sea Dragon King. How could I serve as a woman's mount?"
At Gao Village, they met Zhu Ganglie. Daiyu said, "Be on your way. I don't take lecherous disciples."
At the Flowing Sand River, they met Sha Wujing. Wujing said, "I've already eaten nine generations of scripture pilgrims. Add you, little girl, and that makes a nice round number."
Lin Daiyu burned her poems and cut off her infatuation, her soul returning to the Land of Illusion. In an instant, she saw through it all: what people called fate was nothing more than a script already written.
Furious, she rebelled. By an unfortunate twist of fate in the passage of reincarnation, she seized the karmic destiny of Jin Chanzi's tenth reincarnation and, as a woman, entered another preordained heavenly mandate.
She led Wukong, Bajie, Shasheng, the White Dragon, and the others in challenging Buddhism's heavenly mandate, Heaven's rules, and the destiny of the Land of Illusion.
With empathy, she reshaped the eighty-one trials. With fearlessness, she talked back to every god and Buddha in the heavens. With wisdom, she rewrote the cycles of fate and reincarnation.
She would become neither Buddha, immortal, nor god. She would prove her own path, stand shoulder to shoulder with the divine as a mortal, and win this for all living beings: I decide my own destiny.
And as for herself...
