Waiting for a Letter from Summer

[Foster care + mutual secret crush + sweet, healing romance + six-year age gap + reunion after years apart + groveling pursuit] This is the story of a big bad wolf who raises a little bunny himself, tricks her back into his den, and then devours her. Her perspective: her crush comes true. His perspective: a carefully laid plan. She is sweet and well-behaved. At fifteen, she goes to live with the Fu family. As time passes, her youthful affection quietly takes root. The man is patient and considerate with her, always taking her side and giving her all his tenderness. He prepares birthday surprises, takes her to see fireworks on the beach and sunsets from a cruise ship, builds snowmen with her, and tutors her at the company. Later, Jiang Xiaxia writes firmly in her bookmark: “Become someone as dazzling as him.” “I swear I’ll always think of her as my little sister.” The man’s words reach her ears, shattering her secret crush into pieces. He is a heaven-blessed favorite, a dazzling ray of sunlight atop the pyramid. It turns out she was the only one imagining there was something between them. Later, he goes abroad to study, and she moves out of the Fu family home. They lose touch. Years later, they meet again, and Fu Jing turns out to be Jiang Xiaxia’s boss. At work, he is just as strict with her as he is with everyone else, cold as if their past were all an act. She thinks he has long since forgotten her. Until that night, in the elevator downstairs from her apartment. The man grabs her wrist hard, his eyes bloodshot as he traps her in the corner and demands hoarsely, “When are you finally going to pay attention to me?” The thing Fu Jing regrets most in his life is hurting the girl he loves most. He has always been proud and unruly, caring about no one, except for the girl who calls him “big brother.” No one knows how many years he has waited to go from “big brother” to husband.
