Reborn as the Spanish Empire

In the sixteenth century, the Spanish Empire was the world's first global power. After its defeat by the rising naval power of Great Britain in the eighteenth century, it began a long decline into old age. In 1898, the Spanish-American War, sparked by the United States' staged Maine incident, became the first imperialist war in which the great powers competed for colonies. Spain lost, surrendering Cuba and other islands in the West Indies, as well as the Philippines and the Mariana Islands, including the later-famous Guam. From then on, Spain was no longer counted among the great powers. Yang Chen is a history enthusiast whose work is classified. He likes to imagine how people of different identities and statuses think and feel. Perhaps Heaven took pity on him: for reasons unknown, in the 2020s he returned to the late nineteenth century and became Alfonso XIII, the famous Spanish Empire's posthumous king and the youngest king in its history. And so the story begins. This is a new book, and I hope you'll support it. One last reminder: this novel is entirely fictional, not a work of orthodox history, so please don't take it as a portrayal of real people or events.
