At fourteen, Xia Tingting had a terrifying dream. In it, her mentally ill mother would soon pass away, and her stepmother would trick her into marrying into a remote mountain village. Unable to endure the meager life there and with nowhere left to turn, Xia Tingting would take her own life by swallowing pills.
When her mother’s illness flared up, she would babble and rant hysterically, smashing anything she could get her hands on. Worse still, she would strip naked and let anyone passing by stare without a shred of shame.
At last, Xia Tingting understood: this wasn’t a dream, but the tragic ending of her previous life.
With the lives of herself and her mother at stake, the meek Xia Tingting finally came to her senses and vowed to change the course of her life.
Her kind-faced but cruel-hearted grandmother: “What does a girl need so much schooling for? Every girl in the village goes out to earn money while she’s still young.”
Her cruel, hard-handed grandfather: “You mother and daughter are two of a kind, nothing but a drain on this family! Get out of my house as soon as possible.”
Her cousin, whom she had admired since childhood, and her father, who was always away working, treated Xia Tingting and her mother with perfunctory indifference. A few lukewarm words of concern seemed to them like a tremendous favor.
Let this bunch of hypocritical, selfish relatives stay bound together. Xia Tingting doesn’t want them anyway. She’ll take her mother and start a new life.
The novel is very interesting, the plot is true, the heroine's rebirth has changed the fate of herself and her mother, it is worth reading 👍👍
