Brothers Karamazov

"The Brothers Karamazov" was Dostoevsky's last novel, which concentrated "all the most precious thoughts" of the writer's life (see Grossman's "The Biography of Dostoevsky"). It was this novel that exhausted all Dostoevsky's energy and made him finish his life before he was 60 years old. The novel originated from a murder case, and the deceased was his father. Therefore, some people believe that this is a literary sample of the "Myth of Shi Fu". However, it is generally believed that the novel is more about exploring the good and evil elements in human hearts and the common dilemmas faced by human beings. As the character Mika said in the book: "God and the devil are fighting for dominance, and the battlefield is the human heart." The whole novel is tense and depressing, and the plot development is compact and rapid, suspenseful and shocking.
