This textbook is divided into two parts: a general introduction and individual monographs. The general introduction introduces the formation, development and academic schools of various acupuncture theories. Each monograph introduces the acupuncture doctrines, thoughts and clinical experiences of 59 ancient and 5 modern doctors from the aspects of their lives and works, doctrines and contributions, clinical applications and academic influences. It also excerpts some of the original works of the doctors in order to have a better understanding of the doctors. It also supplements content not covered in the main text for reference when studying.
Reader comments
I especially like the part about the acupuncture theories of ancient and modern doctors, which gave me a deeper understanding of acupuncture. Moreover, the book also contains excerpts from original works by doctors, which is very helpful for learning. Some of the characters and plots in the book are also quite interesting, which kept me from feeling bored while studying. All in all, I think this is a book worth reading.
