A Love Torn in Two

In the fifth year of my marriage to Ye Ying'an, his late mentor's daughter returned.

To repay his debt of gratitude, he wanted to take her as a concubine.

Everyone said she was no threat to my position.

She was unwell and couldn't be intimate with him. She'd just be one more person at the household table.

But I watched Ye Yong'an leave my room night after night to comfort her when she was sick.

In an age when even physical infidelity was legal, no one understood the phrase “emotional affair.”

There is no perfect solution in this world that lets you wrong neither her nor me.
