The Yin Sha Snake Fetus

Our village has a legend called the Yin Sha Snake Fetus.

Cut off a pregnant woman’s legs, attach a snake’s tail, then lock her in a sealed room with hundreds of venomous snakes.

After forty-nine days, cut open the corpse’s belly and take the baby out.

That baby is sure to be a boy.

My mother gave birth to three girls in a row.

That night, my father turned her into a snake woman.
