"Four Mindfulnesses" is also called the Four Mindfulnesses, which are the mindfulness of the body, the mindfulness of feelings, the mindfulness of the mind, and the mindfulness of the Dharma. The mindfulness of body is to observe the impurity of the body; the mindfulness of feelings is to note that feelings are painful; the mindfulness of mind is to note the impermanence of the mind; the mindfulness of dharma is to note the absence of self in the dharma. The four methods of contemplation in these four places of mindfulness all take wisdom as the body, and use the power of wisdom contemplation to keep the mind on the Tao and Dharma, making it righteous and not evil.
