Cold Light, Burning Fire

Mutual firsts + marriage before love + imagined substitute trope + sweet romance + raising a child + happy ending A money-grubbing, stingy, hilarious superstar & a refined scoundrel who runs a luxury watch brand 1. At twenty, Lu Weiwu was inexplicably handed a contract by her client. It wasn’t a renewal, but a marriage contract. Her prospective husband was a “walking money printer,” the thirty-three-year-old Wang Xinong. Tch Did she look like the gold-digging type? But the offer was just too good! Besides, she had already… fallen for him. At that event, Lu Weiwu sat propping up her head in the audience, nodding off during the awards ceremony. Amid the roar of the crowd, that man’s laughter held an indescribable tenderness, almost swallowed by the applause. He said, “Are you really that sleepy?” Lu Weiwu jolted awake and realized she was supposed to go onstage. He stood in the shadows, smiling with boundless brightness. Hadn’t her heart stirred in that moment? Hadn’t it? Hadn’t it? She was only fifteen that year. 2. Lu Weiwu turned her head, her lashes trembling. “Let’s stop here.” They parted on bad terms, pretending to be in love every time they met. But she never expected that, in a deserted corner of the awards ceremony, amid the roar of the crowd and the swelling applause, Wang Xinong would pin her against the wall, their shadows tangled together. The man who was always so rational was now pleading in a hushed voice. “Little Awu, forgive me, okay?” Though she knew what he meant, Lu Weiwu’s heart still ached until she could barely breathe. “Who am I, really?” Wang Xinong lowered his head and pressed his lips to her neck. “Little Awu.” “I’m Lu Weiwu.” Wang Xinong seemed momentarily dazed. “Who is Lu Weiwu?” Hah. Who was Lu Weiwu… 3. “I saw the colors of dawn in you, and felt the sorrowful stillness of my setting moon.”, Wang Xinong “His gaze felt strange, as though it passed right through her. She couldn’t tell what he was longing for.”, Lu Weiwu
