The Outer Woman

My older sister supported me by selling rouge on the banks of the Qinhuai River.

Just because the Ninth Prince, Mu Changfeng, looked at her twice, his consort, Su Qingyue, disfigured her, cut off all four of her limbs, and threw her into a mass grave.

By the time I found her, all that remained was a cold, lifeless body.

Later, I became Mu Changfeng’s mistress.

Gentle and considerate, sweet and obedient.

He was always making promises: “I can give you anything you want, Wanwan, except a title.”

Whenever he said that, I would gaze at him with tender affection. “As long as there’s a place for me in Your Highness’s heart, I’ll be content.”

How could he know that beneath my harmless exterior, I longed to take his life?
