You’re a Forensic Pathologist, So Why Are You Performing a Ritual at the Scene?

Shen Zhuang transmigrates into a family of legal and medical professionals. His elders are all either lawyers or doctors, and they hope he'll carry on the family tradition and become a forensic pathologist. Shen Zhuang: “Could it be that taking one character each from ‘law’ and ‘medicine’ gives us ‘sorcerer’?” On his first day at work, he encounters a murder case. A body is pulled from the river, and he's asked to examine it at the scene. Shen Zhuang: “An autopsy? I don't know how to do that. Examine a corpse? You've got to be kidding me.” Everyone is waiting for Shen Zhuang to examine the body and provide leads, when he burns the victim's hair and chants: “Wandering soul, where do you linger? I command you by the authority of the Most High Lord Lao, obey at once!” “Get up and speak…” The corpse sits up on the spot. “I died such a horrible death…” After all that, the case is actually solved, leaving the criminal investigation team and the onlookers completely stunned. “Other people use technology to examine corpses. Shen Zhuang uses magic!” “Who needs unsolved cases now? Just call the dead over and ask them a few questions!” “Is the crime rate plummeting because the forensic pathologist can make the dead come knocking?” … When the Shen family hears the news, they're all dumbfounded. “We told you to become a forensic pathologist, and you went and performed a ritual at the scene?”
