Walden Pond (Hardcover Collector's Edition)
When I finished reading the article "Walden", my heart was as restless as the sea. This book was written in the mid-19th century, which was a period of rapid development of capitalism. In the current context, people pursued interests and tried every means to obtain higher rights and more money. Industrial civilization and noisy society squeeze human beings and erode human nature. Against this background, this wise man who graduated from Harvard was alone, took an ax, and ran into the uninhabited forest beside Walden Pond. He is a maverick, with a heart yearning for nature, and quietly embarks on this spiritual roadbed. And in this land of Walden Pond, known as "a drop of God", he is calm in space and lonely in his thoughts! "I like to have leisure time in my life. Sometimes, one morning in the next summer, after taking a bath as usual, I sit in front of the door where the sun is shining. From the red sun rising in the east to the bright noon, I sit in this forest of pine trees, hickory trees and sumac trees, sitting in the solitude and silence away from the hustle and bustle, meditating." He gradually unloaded the hustle and bustle of the city and wrote about loneliness with his heart. Every time I read his books, I am shocked. His thoughts on life make my heart as clear as still water. He made me feel in awe. It turns out that a person's life is like this. His life is so simple and fragrant, although it is short but profound. His spiritual world is colorful and exquisite. During Thoreau's short life, he tried to encourage people to simplify their lives and make time to go deep into life and savor life. Through his own life experience, he told the world not to be confused by the bustling and complicated life, thereby losing the direction and meaning of life. Be the helmsman of life and set sail. He advocates a simple life, not to ask us to live a simple life or to cut down on food and clothing, but to ask us to listen more to the rhythm of life. This may be the value of a person, just loneliness and tranquility, without any pretense. The author's pursuit of loneliness by Walden Pond is actually the pursuit of profundity. He thinks and explores life in a lonely state of mind. Loneliness gave birth to his profound thoughts. "You don't have to give me love, you don't have to give me money, you don't have to give me reputation, just give me the truth." This was the voice in his heart. Go read this psychological textbook! He will make your trip worthwhile.
I like Thoreau's descriptions of life by the lake. His observations and thoughts on nature are very delicate. However, I kind of hated the visitor in the book who always interrupted Thoreau's peaceful life. Overall, this is a calming book, perfect for reading in a busy life.
This attitude towards life seems very lonely, but maybe loneliness is more beneficial to health. Being in this wonderland for a short time is a kind of enjoyment. It would be quite sad to never go out and see it for the rest of your life.
Reading is the best thing👍
