That year, the Los Angeles Lakers of the Pacific Division were on a tear. Kobe Bryant had officially entered the prime of his career, while Shaquille O'Neal stood at the summit of the league. It was also the second year of their three-peat. After reaching the NBA Finals with an unblemished record of eleven straight playoff wins, the only player standing in their way was somehow Allen Iverson, a 6-foot-tall guard carrying thirteen injuries.
No one expected that after Game One, the 6-foot guard would break the Lakers' perfect record with 48 points. Surely this guy could lead the 76ers to topple the defending champions, reach the top of the league, and be crowned the new king.
But after three games, the 76ers were down 1-2, with just five minutes left before the Lakers could clinch match point. Iverson, battered from head to toe, had already spent every last ounce of his strength. Now he could only watch from the bench, while Dikembe Mutombo, the reigning DPOY, had long since been pounded into a pulp by Shaquille O'Neal.
Did the 76ers still have any hope in this series?
Who said this book wouldn't have a high score? I gave it five stars. Please give me more. It's very interesting.
