After the Divorce, His Love Awakens

They were married by contract. Ye Xing fell in love with Pei Nancheng at first sight and did everything she could to treat him well. But Pei Nancheng had someone else in his heart. He blamed his inability to be with her on his marriage to Ye Xing, so after the wedding he treated Ye Xing badly, ignored her, and even spent nights away with the woman he loved.

Eventually, Ye Xing could take no more and asked Pei Nancheng for a divorce. But just before they were due to split up, a series of events opened Pei Nancheng's eyes to the woman he had loved and made him realize that Ye Xing was the only one who truly cared about him. By then, however, Ye Xing had given up on him completely and was determined to get divorced.

Now Pei Nancheng refused to agree. He wouldn't let her go, no matter what, so Ye Xing had no choice but to sue for divorce.

In the end, Ye Xing got her divorce. She enjoyed her newfound freedom and met someone who liked her, but she hadn't healed from the heartbreak of her previous relationship and wouldn't give Gu Jingyuan a chance. Gu Jingyuan, however, never gave up and did everything he could to treat her well. He had offered Ye Xing so much warmth while Pei Nancheng was mistreating her, and his persistence gradually began to sway her. She started thinking she could try dating Gu Jingyuan.

Pei Nancheng sensed Ye Xing wavering and nearly went mad. He kept trying to win her back, but she refused to forgive him and made it clear she was done. No matter what Ye Xing said or did, though, Pei Nancheng refused to listen. He shed his former aloof, domineering, obsessive persona and turned into a loyal, obedient, clingy puppy, relentlessly pursuing his wife in the hope of winning her back.
