In ancient times, the world was swept by upheaval. Qin Shi Huang conquered the Six Kingdoms and ruled all under heaven. Just as peace seemed to have taken hold, he discovered that demons and monsters were roaming unchecked, like fiends and ghosts. The people were suffering terribly, unable to make a living. With the whole realm in his heart, Qin Shi Huang established the Demon Suppression Bureau. Using overwhelming force, it crushed the demons and drove many of the most vicious westward, carving out a peaceful sanctuary for the lands of Great Qin.
As the years passed and dynasties rose and fell, demons continued to spring up like weeds so long as grievances lingered and baleful energy remained in the world. The Demon Suppression Bureau carried on its mission from generation to generation, always a pillar of support for the ruling dynasty and a steadfast guardian of order among humankind.
The story now reaches the Tang Dynasty, a prosperous age with dark currents stirring beneath the surface. To all appearances, the Tang was a land of peace and plenty: Chang'an bustled with traffic, and envoys from every nation came to pay tribute. Yet a tremendous crisis was quietly approaching. Every sign pointed to the demons plotting a momentous undertaking, and a storm capable of overturning the Tang and perhaps the entire world was about to break.
The members of the Demon Suppression Bureau sensed this ominous presence and resolutely took up the burden of protecting all living beings. Among them were demon-slaying celestial masters, highly skilled in martial arts and upright in spirit, who faced demons with peerless techniques and mysterious magic; brilliant strategists with meticulous minds, who followed the faintest clues to uncover the truth behind the demons' schemes; and passionate newcomers, fresh out of training and full of a sense of justice, who endured the brutal trials of demon hunting and grew rapidly in the process.
