The business journey of a woman who traveled far and wide:
The land was in turmoil, with wars breaking out one after another. Hu Xing, born in a remote mountain village, had one great dream: to earn lots of money, eat lots of delicious food, and give herself and her family a good life!
Only later did she learn just how vast the world was. It was full of dangers and obstacles, and for a lowly young woman, achieving her wishes was no easy task.
One careless move, and she found herself rushing from place to place, traveling by starlight and moonlight.
Along the way, she climbed mountains, crossed rivers, met officials, escaped danger, and made plenty of interesting acquaintances: a young master hoping to restore his family’s fortunes, a foreign youth with blue eyes, a legendary swordsman whose whereabouts were unknown, an upright scholar-official... Not to mention all the close-knit young ladies she befriended!
Life couldn’t possibly have been more fun!
But as she grew older, marriage came to the forefront. Her older sister, Hu Tao, lined up the candidates she liked. “Xing’er, do you want to choose this one? Or that one?”
Hu Xing was bewildered. “Huh?”
A slow burn, with an ensemble cast.
The final poem says it all: Money is precious, but love is more so. Yet for the sake of freedom, I’d gladly give up both!
