"Qunshu Zhiyao" was compiled by Li Shimin, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, in the early years of Zhenguan. Taizong joined the army with his father at the age of eighteen. He rebelled and quelled the turbulent society. He served in the army for more than ten years. After he ascended the throne at the age of twenty-eight, he practiced martial arts and cultivated literature, paying special attention to the way of peace and recuperation to nourish the people.
The book "Qunshu Zhiyao" compiles historical materials on the governance of the country by emperors of the past dynasties, extracts the essence of self-cultivation, family order, country governance, and peace of the world from classics, history, and various scholars, and compiles it into a book. From the Five Emperors to the Jin Dynasty, there are more than 14,000 volumes and more than 89,000 volumes of ancient books, and 65 kinds of classics, with a total of more than 500,000 words. The completion of the book, as Wei Zheng said in the preface, is actually a treasure book of world governance that "can be used today to appreciate the past and past; passed down to future generations, it can help future generations make plans."
