At a university in the late 20th century, A Yan, an artsy, slightly goofy young woman, runs into A Xu, the campus heartthrob she promised as a child that they would attend university together. She also befriends her roommates, A Xue, A Min, and Yang Yang, and the four begin a wonderful life at university.
A Yan meets someone named A Xu, just like the boy she knew, and after making inquiries from every direction, confirms that he is the very person she made that childhood promise with. A Xue and A Min are both campus beauties, and the two become entangled over a boy.
