Children who think in many different directions often feel out of place in traditional educational environments. Teachers and classmates frequently label them, so they often find school boring. This book tells the story of Xiao J, an unconventional child trying to survive in the cracks of an exam-oriented education system. I hope his story will prompt people from all walks of life to reflect deeply on education in today’s schools, and remind them that “respect, understanding, and acceptance” of children should be more than empty words.
