For five thousand years, the culture of the ding in China has been revered by later generations. Many dynasties considered the ding the supreme symbol of power among all bronze vessels. Yet this was only its most obvious meaning as an ancient ritual object. Legend says that Yu cast the Nine Dings and divided the land into nine provinces. When the nation prospered, the dings flourished; when it fell, the dings were moved. But no one knew that the land beneath the Nine Dings was no longer the king's domain. It was a sealed, savage wilderness. Only by guarding the dings could peace be preserved. The Ding Guardians have remained hidden throughout history, unknown to the world, yet they have silently protected this land of Huaxia from the endless darkness. After countless battles, their clans slowly began to decline, until the wilderness opened once more.
Shen Chen, the last Ding Guardian, must face the ties that bind his heart and seek out the scattered Guardian clans, uniting them to seal the wilderness once again. From the Strange Tales of Mengxi and the Ancient Coffin of Wushan to the Wolf's Den in the Snowlands and ten thousand taels of gold, he and his companions encounter one bizarre incident after another and fight savage creatures to the death. Through it all, they continue to grow stronger.
