Max's "Meditations" is the last important classic of Stoic philosophy in ancient Rome. Marx did not try to establish a philosophical system, so in Meditations we do not need to seek a complete philosophy. He is not conducting a philosophical discussion, he is introspecting, and he is expressing a kind of moral enthusiasm. We can use this to imagine how he is as a person, to peer into his heart, and thus gain some understanding of how to behave in society and treat others with discipline. The book has a total of 12 volumes. This translation is by the master Mr. Liang Shiqiu, and is accompanied by the translator's comments and annotations. The selected translation is also the Haines version that is closest to the original intention.
Reader comments
This book is like a wise man chatting with you. Many of the thoughts and opinions in the book resonated with me. I particularly like the author's views on life. He makes me cherish the people around me and the small happiness in life more. Moreover, Mr. Liang Shiqiu's translation is so exquisite that it made me feel particularly cordial when reading it. I think this is not only a book, but also a guide to life attitude.
Check in for the first time. Set a goal for yourself, first read books about Stoicism, and then learn to practice it. Stoicism is like a guiding light for me. When I get older, I hope I can also despise death. The road is still long, so I will build it slowly.
