A Heavenly Dao Baby Descends to Earth to Face a Year of Famine

As the beloved darling of Grandpa Heavenly Law, this little one was cherished by everyone. Before descending to the mortal realm, the baby rolled around in Grandpa Heavenly Law’s arms. The baby drank heavenly dew, was personally attended to by Grandpa Heavenly Law, and wore celestial gauze woven from colorful clouds by Big Sister Weaver. With two little buns on top of the head, the baby looked like a soft puff of cotton, a chubby white dumpling, absolutely adorable. One day, Grandpa Heavenly Law suddenly asked, “My good little one, you’re already three. When are you going down to the mortal realm to undergo a trial?” The white dumpling, Baby Nuo Xi, contentedly rolled around twice in Grandpa Heavenly Law’s arms and replied in a babyish voice, “Grandpa, your good little one can’t bear to leave you. I want to stay with you a little longer!” Grandpa Heavenly Law smiled fondly. “If you miss Grandpa, you can come visit whenever you like!” The white dumpling, Baby Nuo Xi, furrowed her little brows. “But your good little one can’t bear to leave you!” Grandpa Heavenly Law said, “My good little one, let Grandpa show you something.” Then Baby Nuo Xi rubbed her big, round, sparkling eyes with her little chubby hands. In the Heavenly Mirror, she saw starving mortals in the human realm eating tree bark and dirt. Some were so destitute they had no clothes and were eating human flesh. Corpses littered the land, and cries of suffering rang out everywhere. The white dumpling’s heart ached for them. Baby Nuo Xi tilted her head up and gazed at Grandpa Heavenly Law with her bright, dark eyes. “Grandpa, do you want your good little one to go down and help them?” Grandpa Heavenly Law smiled. “That’s right. My good little one is clever and kind. Grandpa believes you can do it.” The white dumpling, Baby Nuo Xi, hesitated for a moment, then answered in her babyish voice, “All right, then your good little one will go down and help them!” And so the adorable white dumpling, Baby Nuo Xi, descended to the mortal realm.
