Men in romance novels are always handsome, wealthy, and perfect.

Yet they often don’t hold up to closer scrutiny, like cream cakes studded with thumbtacks. They taste sweet at first, but then you have to swallow them whole, blood and all.

Usually, they need one or several women with a kind of desperate intensity. Strangely, no matter how exceptional those women are, they eventually become content to live in a man’s shadow.

What kind of problem is that? Jiang Jiting, a self-made CEO who rose to power halfway through his life, suddenly developed that very problem.

By some bizarre twist of fate, the bastard fell in love with the woman he had bullied. He was determined to marry her, and even greedily wanted her to love him sincerely and submit to him.

He isn’t the only man like that.

But men like him have chosen the wrong woman, underestimating just how fierce and strong-willed she is.

She isn’t some cookie-cutter woman molded by society’s expectations. She’s more like a hedgehog whose spines are always ready to prick you.

She’s tall and imposing, with a blunt, ironclad personality: calculating, dark, cold, and vindictive. She’s far too strong-willed to show the docility expected of the second sex.

Even her name is ordinary, just three characters: Zhang Pingle.

With a name like that, she’d never be the protagonist anywhere. How could she possibly be the heroine of a romance novel?

Ha, she must have wandered into the wrong story.
