The Goose of Wang Xizhi won second prize in the joint “Bringing Ancient Books to Life, Passing on the Love of Reading” writing contest hosted by the National Library of China and Tomato Novel. It has been published by Tianjin Ancient Books Publishing House. The story begins when Wang Xizhi happens upon a large white goose and takes a liking to it. He trades a copy of the Huangting Scripture for the goose, setting off on a fantastical journey with his new companion. This is a story about someone determined to give the elegance of the Wei and Jin dynasties a backbone, and about the extraordinary yet troubled lives of the calligraphy sage Wang Xizhi and his friends. Strange passions, strange sights, strange encounters, and strange adventures: in their pursuit of immortality and the Way, they seek a way out in the human world, adrift like a mote upon the sea. The spirit of the Wei and Jin era is beyond words.
