Zhao Hede: Farming and Earning Merit in Dream of the Red Chamber

Zhao Hede is reborn as You Erjie, who died young. The protagonist is no good person. Though she farms, provides disaster relief, builds bridges, and repairs roads, she is still no good person. In the Jia household, Zhao Hede wakes up with the maid Shanjie by her side, in Daoxiang Village. Faced with a seemingly impossible situation, she has two options. First, seduce Jia Lian, drive away Wang Xifeng, get pregnant to secure her place, and become the Jia household’s new Second Madam Lian. Second, use Lady Xing to anger Wang Xifeng to death and take her place. Zhao Hede gives a bewitching, disdainful smile. “What sort of woman do you take me for? I’d never stoop to stealing her place!” The nun turns her prayer beads. “She’s your bane!” Wang Xifeng sneers and waves her hand. “Guards, throw You Erjie out of the mansion!” Scene One: At the market. “Madam, this porcelain vase dates back to the Eastern Zhou. It’s yours for just five hundred taels.” “Two taels!” “Deal!” Zhao Hede takes the vase to the Antique Gallery. “A painted Han dynasty vase, worth eight hundred taels!” Scene Two: Deep in the woods, Zhao Hede grips a long whip, her brows drawn and gaze cold, full of heroic spirit. The bandits charge at her with spears! Zhao Hede bends down and lashes a bandit across the leg. Crack! “Ding! Merit +10.” The bandit falls to his knees, clutching his leg and howling in pain! “Huh?!” Scene Three: Zhao Hede counts the banknotes one by one and nods with satisfaction. The mine owner waves his hand. “Guards, send all these people to the mine to dig coal for me!” The bandits wail, “Heavens above! Where’s the justice?!” Zhao Hede puts away the banknotes. “Just what I wanted.” “Ding. Merit +100.”
