Bishop Fule did not hesitate to cover up the crime of stealing silverware for Valjean. The bishop always sympathized with the poor, hardship and disease, saved the poor and lost people from the hands of death and Satan, tolerated hostility with generosity, crushed evil with kindness, completely redeemed Valjean's lonely and resentful soul, and created the future mayor of Madeleine and Father Fauchelevent. A twenty-year-old republican and a forty-year-old conservative, with faith on one side and life on the other, ideals and reality fighting, progress and backwardness in hand-to-hand combat, blood and fire like beating notes, fortitude and tenderness intertwined into a painting, the youth and life of the insurrectionists compose a French movement. I was brought to tears three times. The first time was when Eponina blocked the gun for Marius. The poor girl fell in love with the hero even earlier than Cosette, and was willing to give up everything and even her life for the hero's happiness. Perhaps, in those sweet nights of Marius and Cosette, Eponina hid in the dark, smiled and shed tears silently. The second time is when little Gavroche rushes out of the trench to pick up bullets, like an elf dancing in the darkness of death. The scene of him falling after being shot is beautiful. The third time was when Valjean was dying, he accepted the spiritual baptism of Bishop Fulai, ending his wonderful and noble life. There are many things that are more beneficial than the story itself, just as there are many things in the world that are more beautiful than practical.

This book made me see the darkness of society and the complexity of human nature. The characters in the book all have their own tragic fates, and their actions and choices made me feel the helplessness and hardship of life. However, they also have a light of resilience and kindness that makes me believe in the power of love and hope. This is a book that touches my heart and makes me think more deeply about the world.
