I'm Actually a Substitute!

Everyone in the capital knows that Yun Qingwan married the current Prince Regent despite knowing he had a beloved woman in his heart. Everyone thinks she loves him desperately. Even the Prince Regent thinks so. As he watches the woman persistently pursuing him, he feels nothing but disgust. When his beloved is left at death’s door, he roars that Yun Qingwan must pay with her life. Yun Qingwan’s heart finally dies. A stand-in is still only a stand-in. He can never be the one she truly loves. She perishes in a sea of flames, faking her death to escape. But the Prince Regent panics. His hair turns white overnight, and he descends into madness. Three years later, his heart dead, he travels to Donglin. There, he sees her once again. Dressed in imperial robes, she looks down at him with cold eyes. “Jun Ningyu, you were only ever his stand-in. You can never be him!” Only then does he realize that he was the stand-in all along. Later, beneath the heavy winter snow, he kneels before the imperial palace of Donglin for three days and nights. “Even if I’m only a stand-in, I’m willing. Qingwan, please come back!” But she no longer wants to look at him.
