Shi Yu transmigrates, arriving in a real Pokemon World alongside players from all over the globe. A System notification tells him he's become the distinguished “Player No. 1.” Then, from the start, he gets... a Caterpie. While other players show off their pseudo-legendary hatchlings and dream of becoming Dragon-type masters, Shi Yu and his Caterpie are munching on berries in Viridian Forest, being chased by Spearow and jumping into a river. The whole internet mocks him: “People still play Bug Catchers these days?” “Is this all Player No. 1 can do?” Shi Yu looks at his shivering Caterpie, then looks up at the poster of Rayquaza dominating the sky. “Buddy, want to... look that cool someday too?” Later, at the World League, his opponent sends out a level-100 Dragonite, looking down on the whole arena. “Give up. How's your bug supposed to win?” Shi Yu sighs and presses his Poke Ball. The sky grows dark. Rayquaza's roar shatters the arena's protective barrier. Mewtwo hovers behind him, blue light in its eyes extinguishing the stars. And the Caterpie he started with has evolved. Its wings stretch across the heavens, and its draconic presence bears down on the entire arena. Surrounded by Legendary Pokémon, Shi Yu smiles at the stunned world: “I told you, I'm just an ordinary Bug Catcher.”
