Unrivaled Beneath the Mountain

He worshipped immortals on the mountain, yet no one below could rival him. He had been an innocent young man, but as soon as he entered the capital, he became trapped in countless webs of intrigue, unable to escape. Family, friends, and those with ill intentions behind their false appearances: he understood people's hearts less and less. He came with a sincere heart, and left with nothing but confusion. As the nation fell into turmoil, he won distinction amid life and death. When he died, he broke through yin and yang, defying the ages. Looking back, it all seemed like a dream. He climbed the steps leading to the highest place, while people bowed and cupped their hands in farewell on either side of the road. He gazed at the summit, then slowly came to a stop. He smiled faintly, took someone's hand, and sat with them on the steps, gazing at the beautiful view as they chatted and laughed.
