Popular Romance Stories from Chinese Dynasties: Farm Leisure Reader-Water Margin

"Water Margin" is a very high achievement among Chinese classical novels. It describes the entire process of the occurrence, development and failure of the Liangshan peasant uprising in the late Northern Song Dynasty. It has been circulated in many versions, including seventy chapters, one hundred chapters and one hundred and twenty chapters. This article adopts the 120-chapter edition of People's Literature Publishing House. Through careful study of "Water Margin", I excerpted the classic characters and stories and focused on writing 31 chapters. "Water Margin" begins with the rise of Gao Qiu. Gao Qiu was originally a gangster who engaged in eating, drinking, prostitution, gambling, deception, and abduction. He was driven out of Tokyo because of his many evil deeds. But it was such a local ruffian who was valued by Emperor Huizong because of his good football. He was named Taiwei of the palace commander's office and took charge of the military and political power of the court. He is a popular figure in front of the emperor, and he colludes with Cai Jing and Tong Guan to cover up the sky and commit all kinds of evil. From then on, the story of Liangshan heroes was directly or indirectly introduced.
