Synopsis

“Auntie, are you a fan too?”

“No. That was the dazzling decade of my twenties.”

When Yu Jin was thirty-three, her sister’s daughter came to stay at her house for the summer. By chance, she spotted some girls’ portrait photos displayed in Yu Jin’s study.

Looking through them, she discovered they were of a group called SNH48, once known as one of China’s largest girl groups. After years of poor management, it finally shut down officially, to the dismay and despair of its fans.

By then, Yu Jin had already graduated.

She had joined the group at seventeen as a sixth-generation member and stayed for a full ten years. She met many girls along the way, but in the end, overshadowed by their brilliance, she left the place she had once known so well, lonely yet proud, as it became strange to her.
