Preppers care about how to survive tomorrow, and feel a deep sense of responsibility toward their families, loved ones, and partners. After leaving the military, Li Nian became a prepper in every sense of the word. He was deeply concerned about nuclear war, and also worried about terrorism, economic crises, meteorites striking Earth, zombie viruses, and other disasters. He kept studying so he would have the skills needed to cope with extreme situations. He made sure to learn a little about medicine, geography, construction, and the military. He also learned sewing, cooking, housebuilding, making leather goods and traditional handicrafts, wilderness survival, shooting, archery, and other basic skills. At the same time, he started his own business and used all his earnings to build a bunker and stockpile supplies, all to prepare for an apocalypse that could come at any moment. But many people couldn’t understand what he was doing and thought he was worrying over nothing. His girlfriend even wanted to break up with him because of it. But Li Nian wouldn’t change, even if they broke up. Then, not long after they split, the apocalypse arrived. And it was the most terrifying kind of all: a zombie apocalypse!
