The Metaphor of Books

This is a book about books. Open it, and you will find: The boundless imagination of a book-loving reader: Borges opens a Weibo account and updates his status from time to time; Calvino sails in a little boat, climbs a wooden ladder to the moon, and tries to move all his books there; one day, after Kafka finishes the last page of his manuscript, he discovers that he has become a gigantic book… The fantastical daydreams of a book lover: raise a book-eating beast to help digest an overgrown collection and create a virtuous cycle for books; build a maze out of book walls, where entering it can overcome the fading of memory; use a silhouette knife to cut out the shadow of a book in sunlight or moonlight, then leave it in the study to soak up ink until it perfectly reproduces the book… Through its many stories, visions, and metaphors about books, this book helps readers understand and experience the meaning, status, and role of books in our present age and in the world of the future.
