On September 18, 1931, student Wan Shanhong left Shenyang by sheer chance. That night, the Japanese army launched the September 18 Incident. Wan Shanhong escaped disaster, but from then on he journeyed into the deep mountains and snowy forests, embarking on the arduous path of driving out the Japanese invaders and restoring China.
