The Drifting Blossom Order

Introduction to Wolong Sheng’s classic wuxia novel The Flower-Petal Token

The Flower-Petal Token is a work from the mature period of Wolong Sheng’s career. Twenty years ago, Murong Changqing, acclaimed by the martial world as “the greatest hero under Heaven,” was brutally murdered in a planned massacre. It was said that only the young master Murong Yunsheng, still an infant at the time, was rescued by a loyal servant.

Twenty years passed in apparent peace, but a tense, deadly atmosphere increasingly spread across the martial world, like the calm before a storm. On one side, Zhongzhou Yijian, the Golden Pen Scholar, Master Jiuru, and others, who had sworn brotherhood with Murong Changqing, were willing even to disguise themselves to secretly track down the mastermind behind the murder. On the other, the rumored young master Murong suddenly appeared in the martial world, determined to avenge his father.

“Beneath the lotus, stone flowers; the book bears proof. In the teacup, clear tea; the legacy is passed down.” This was the only clue in Murong Changqing’s final letter relating to the Murong family’s surviving descendants and martial arts. How could they verify the young master Murong’s true origins? And would they be able to stand against the newly risen powers of the martial world, including the Daughters’ Gang, the Floating Flower Sect, and the Three Sages Sect?
