The Noble Consort Only Wants to Become the Empress Dowager

Scheming heroine + golden finger + smart cast + palace intrigue at its heart. Who says that if you transmigrate into the imperial harem as a concubine, you’ll become the emperor’s favorite, and he’ll love only you among his three thousand beauties? Zhong Meng transmigrates and starts from the worst possible hand: she becomes a low-ranking concubine in Emperor Wuqing’s harem, one of three thousand beauties, with no money and no status. Zhong Meng had planned to keep her head down, but how could anyone really stay out of trouble in the harem? In that case, of course she’ll win over the emperor and become someone no one in the palace dares to bully, climbing from Answer to Noble Lady, Consort, Noble Consort, and finally Empress Dowager. As for love, Zhong Meng can only say that she’s been moved before, but men will only slow down her rise to power. What could be more satisfying than wielding power and becoming fabulously rich? Who cares about a man’s sincerity? Zhong Meng just wants to shine on her own. She prays countless times before the Buddha: “Your faithful believer asks for no affection, only wealth and glory.” For wealth and glory, Zhong Meng is willing to use every trick in the book to climb the ranks. Whoever dares to stand in her way of becoming the most revered woman will die, whether they’re man or Buddha. When a scheming woman makes a move against Zhong Meng, she turns the other woman’s schemes against her. Rumors prove devastating, and the schemer loses and suffers a miscarriage. When the emperor grows suspicious, Zhong Meng puts on an act, playing the weak and helpless victim… (This story will not feature a mutually faithful relationship, nor will the male lead dismiss his harem for the heroine.) This book centers on palace intrigue, with plots including the Fish-Tail Brown Case, the Luring the Enemy into the Trap Scheme, and the Phoenix Weeping Blood Scheme.
