This book is the first history of world civilization co-written by Chinese scholars. Taking the development of productive forces as the main axis, this book vertically divides the history of human civilization into three stages: the rise of agricultural civilization, industrial civilization, and the global expansion of industrial civilization, so as to describe the evolution of different types of civilization. During this long process, each civilization has continued to develop and change, but some essential contents have still been preserved, reflecting the characteristics of that civilization. Each civilization has different development speeds, but they all develop independently in specific environments and according to various changes in internal and external conditions. There are extensive and in-depth mutual exchanges and influences among various civilizations, forming a powerful driving force for human progress. The forms and consequences of exchanges among civilizations are diverse. They reject and collide with each other, but also absorb and integrate with each other. In the foreseeable future, the development of civilization will still be unity in diversity. Since its publication in 2004, this book has been well received by all walks of life. The publishing contract is about to expire, and the author is invited to revise and republish the content.
