Tonight, I Want to Think of You

To get a hefty bride price and buy her younger brother a house, her mother gave her to a man over fifty. To protect herself, that night she got involved with a powerful man she could never afford to offend. From then on, she became Su Loumo’s personal secretary by day and his lover in bed by night. For five years, she was obedient, sweet, and understanding, secretly in love with a man who could never belong to her. But he still abandoned her. When she was diagnosed with cancer, all she got was a hush-money check and his warning: “Don’t try to fall in love with me.” Only then did she learn she was nothing but a stand-in. Her face looked just like the woman Su Loumo loved, who had been left in a vegetative state after a car accident. She neither cried nor made a scene. She planned to take the check and leave, but someone pushed her from a high-rise. She died, and so did the unborn child she carried. When they met again, Su Loumo’s eyes were red as he clamped a hand around her throat. “This time, even if you turn to ashes, don’t think you can leave me!”
