[Both leads are unhinged] + [both are yandere] + [both are strong] + [both leads are virgins] + [deeply tragic and angsty]
The male lead is stronger early on; the female lead becomes stronger later.
Qi Gu, daughter of the Chancellor, loses her parents and closest friend in the opening. A lecherous prince has his eye on her? No matter. Qi Gu can read the situation.
Her ungrateful sworn brother wants to seize her family's estate? No matter. Qi Gu is skilled in both scholarship and martial arts.
Ambitious, intelligent, and resilient, Qi Gu begins by seeking help from her former lover. She enters the palace, becomes empress, bears a child, and takes her revenge. Step by step, she approaches the position she has dreamed of, only to learn the so-called truth just as her wish is about to come true...
“You're saying you killed my parents and my closest friend just so I would be driven into a corner, burn my boats, fight my way out of desperation, and become the supreme empress I am today?”
“That's right!” Song Zhaosu nodded solemnly, then burst into mad laughter and asked her, “Isn't my plan brilliant? Has anyone ever come up with anything like it before? Hahahahahaha...”
Qi Gu's eyes were bloodshot as her long sword kissed the side of his neck.
Long Yang: “I'm not surprised at all that the ship I support is going to sink and end in tragedy!”
Song Liu: “Hard to disagree. He really deserves to die!”
