The protagonist, Li Lin, was a university student in the twenty-first century who unexpectedly transmigrated to the thirty-sixth year of Qin Shi Huang’s reign. As the son of the magistrate of Pei County, Li Lin befriended many renowned heroes from history. He became sworn brothers with Liu Bang, the future founder of the Han dynasty, then brought Xiahou Ying, Zhou Bo, Fan Kuai, Xiao He, Cao Shen, and others into his service, establishing a power of his own. He invented paper in the Qin dynasty, centuries before it appeared in the Western Han, and manufactured items such as stirrups that would not emerge until the Wei and Jin dynasties. Later, while on his way to become Xiang Liang’s disciple, he won Zhang Liang over. After becoming Xiang Liang’s student, he also became sworn brothers with Xiang Yu, pledging to live and die together. He then studied diligently under Xiang Liang and his nephew Xiang Yu. Soon, Chen Sheng and Wu Guang launched their uprising at Dazexiang, and Li Lin helped Xiang Liang and Xiang Yu raise a rebellion in Kuaiji Commandery. Yet Li Lin was never content to serve under Xiang Yu, so he left Xiang Liang and Xiang Yu with his own forces. Then Zhang Han, a famous Qin general of the late Qin period, appeared and routed the forces of the various states. Li Lin and Xiang Yu were also soundly defeated by Zhang Han. In the end, Li Lin and Xiang Yu joined forces to defeat the Qin general. But because of their temperaments, neither was willing to serve under the other. The former brothers-in-arms therefore faced each other with weapons on the battlefield. In their final battle, Li Lin, aided by many talented ministers, defeated Xiang Yu completely, and the great Conqueror met his end. After claiming the realm, Li Lin combined history with reality to establish a unique empire. When Li Lin, now old, looks back on his life, what will he find?
