Apocalypse: A Lighter from the Start

In 2055, global catastrophe struck! After the rain, a hand reached out of the mud. Li Ge struggled to his feet, using one hand to brace himself against a half-foot-high fragment of a broken brick wall. The sky was gray, the surroundings had long since become ruins, and the air reeked of decay, mixed with a few pungent odors. Li Ge had lost count of how many times he'd narrowly escaped death. Suddenly, a bullet pierced Li Ge's head. Blood sprayed as his body slowly fell. Ring! Ring! The class bell rang. Li Ge, who had been slumped over his desk, hurriedly stood up. A bespectacled male teacher strode to the podium, a laptop tucked under his arm. “This is... a classroom! ...The foreign language teacher!” Li Ge glanced down at the digital watch on his wrist. “Three days before the apocalypse? ...”
