Synopsis

[Love That Grows Over Time + Slow Burn + Devoted Couple + Handsome General vs. Blind Assassin]

The previous dynasty fell, the realm was divided, and warlords vied for supremacy.

The great general of the Yao Kingdom, Prince Pingshan Qi Yunqiu, had known the emperor since they were nobodies. They were sworn brothers despite having different surnames. Brave and brilliant in battle, Qi Yunqiu expanded Yao’s borders until the kingdom quietly rose to the top among the nations.

Yu Yun was an assassin of the Zhuji Pavilion. A life spent with blood on her hands kept her from freedom and reminded her every moment how hard it was to stay alive.

She never went looking for trouble unless she had to. If she hadn’t been poisoned and blinded before being dumped on Wolf Mountain, she never would have crossed paths with Prince Pingshan. And she certainly never would have imagined that the illustrious prince would test her blindness by having someone give her a laxative.

As she stumbled off in search of an outhouse, she thought: Qi Yunqiu could never guess that the Zhuji Pavilion was ruthless enough for the matriarch who had raised her for more than a decade to poison her eyes with her own hands.

Only later did Yu Yun learn that her appearance was part of a conspiracy. Her eyes, her identity, everything about her had been arranged.

Step by step, she walked into the trap and became the sharpest blade aimed at the man she loved.

At the emperor’s request, Qi Yunqiu went to Wolf Mountain to find a sacred spring that could cure the crown prince’s poisoning.

There, he encountered a young woman.

Blind, she appeared as suddenly as a mountain spirit and drove off all the people hunting him.

She wanted to have her eyes healed.

He took her back to his residence.

He kept suspecting she had ulterior motives and tested her several times. But it turned out that she and her mother were the ones who had saved him more than a decade ago, like Bodhisattvas come to his aid.

He thought that whether she was an assassin or a spy, whatever she wanted to do, he would go easy on her.

More than her life or death, he wanted her to be able to see.

Looking for an Elegant Historical Chinese Romance Without Outlandish, Over-the-Top, or Brain-Dead Tropes

I want something with elegant, delicate writing. Not the kind that opens with someone getting disfigured or having their heart cut out. That's too melodramatic and clumsy. And no side characters like concubine-born daughters or female antagonists publicly attacking the heroine at banquets. People like that wouldn't survive three hours in ancient times unless they were faking their deaths. It's so unrealistic.

Historical Romance, Historical Romance, Historical Romance!!! You Have No Idea How Long It's Been Since I Read One 😂

I can’t find any good historical romances! Preferably not too long, no more than a little over a million words. It has to be good! Ideally, the heroine is reborn or transmigrates, gets revenge on the scumbags, and has a doting hero. One-on-one romance, both leads faithful to each other!!! No angst! A little angst at most! The hero must not have any other consorts.

Mad, Possessive, and Obsessive Male Leads: Looking for Rebirth Stories

I'm looking for something like *Apocalyptic Obsession: After a Tragic Death, I Wait for the Mad King to Get Out of Prison (The Apocalypse's Most Cherished)*. The male lead is completely crazy. It's a rebirth story, and after being reborn the female lead chooses to be with him. He gets to face-slap the holier-than-thou guy. The male lead is an obsessive yandere with intense possessiveness, and goes crazy without the female lead.

Looking for historical romances where the leads are deeply in love, get separated by some twist of fate, and reunite in the end. The hero should have a dark, unsettling aura, while the heroine is lively and doing just fine on her own when he's away. Are there any stories like this?

I'm Out of Books. Any Male Leads Who Are Truly Gentle, Refined Gentlemen?

I’ve read too many stories with domineering, obsessive male leads. I want a purely historical male lead who’s truly gentle and refined, a graceful young gentleman, and not obsessive.
