Be careful when buying fish, or you might end up with one that can talk. Yu Chen encountered something just that bizarre.
“You beast! What the hell are you?”
“I suppose I’m a fish.”
“Who sent you?”
“No one. I’m just an ordinary carp someone caught…”
“Ordinary, my ass! Why didn’t you make a sound when you were caught?”
“I was dazed and couldn’t remember to cry out. But when you hit me with the knife, it hurt so much that I finally yelled.”
“Sir, you can see I’m strange, so please don’t kill me and eat me. If something goes wrong after you eat me, you’ll be the one to suffer for it. Please be merciful and let me go, like you’d release any other fish.”
Yu Chen fell silent.
Maybe he should be more careful next time he buys fish. Then again, it pays to be careful about more than just buying fish, doesn’t it?
