Miscellaneous Agama Sutra (Three Volumes)

The Chinese translation of the four Agama Sutras - the Miscellaneous Agama Sutra, the Middle Agama Sutra, the Long Agama Sutra and the Additional Agama Sutra were assembled by the Buddha's holy disciples during the summer residence of the Buddha in the year of his Parinirvana. They faithfully collect the teachings preached by the Buddha since he became a Buddha and before his Parinirvana. This illustrates the originality, fundamentality and authority of the Agama Sutra. Among the Tripitaka classics of Chinese Buddhism, the Agama Sutra represents the original Buddhism and is also the recognized "fundamental Dharma" during the Indian Buddhist period. In order to facilitate the majority of believers and scholars to better understand and study primitive Buddhism, the editors and annotators of this book used the Korean Canon as the base and tried their best to maintain the original overall style. They converted the four Agama scriptures into simplified Chinese characters and added modern punctuation and paragraphing. On the basis of previous research results, it also refers to different Tibetan scriptures such as The Southern Tripitaka, Qisha Zang, Taisho Newly Revised Tripitaka, and Shosoin Sacred Language Collection to correct some errors and omissions in the original scriptures. It also makes notes on the names of places, names of people, terms of Dharma, difficult sentences and different translations of other translations that appear in the scriptures, so that readers can more accurately grasp the fundamental teachings and practice principles.
