The Powerful Minister Is a Wife Guy

Zhou Xuan was the chancellor, with power over the entire court. Beneath his carefree exterior and his skill at political maneuvering, no one knew what he truly wanted, until he impatiently married Zhao Qiongzhi, a merchant’s daughter whose engagement to the heir of the Marquis of Zhongsu had been broken off. The whole capital was thrown into an uproar. Zhao Qiongzhi: “He was the one who came begging to marry me! It’s not like I was eager to wed him…” Onlookers: “I’ve never seen anyone so shameless.” Their marriage had begun as a mutually beneficial arrangement, but Zhao Qiongzhi went on to enjoy an enviably happy life, to the bitter disappointment of all the noble ladies waiting eagerly to see her cast aside without mercy. Noble Lady A: “Zhao Qiongzhi is a merchant’s daughter. She’s not worthy of marrying Chancellor Zhou!” Zhou Xuan immediately stepped forward. “It’s my great fortune to have married Qiongzhi.” Commandery Princess B: “Zhou Lang, have you been bewitched? I’m obviously the only one worthy of you, sob…” Zhou Xuan said nothing. Instead, he turned around and recommended a candidate for the imperial marriage alliance to the emperor.
