Yang Chengqi, the author of "Forty Years of Primary Acupuncture Gains and Losses", is a primary doctor in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, and once served as the director of the township central health center. The author studied medicine at the age of twelve and lived in Xuanhu Township at the age of sixteen. Although the health of his left leg was lost due to polio, in order to diagnose and treat patients, with the help of a crutch and an old bicycle, he visited thousands of households in villages of more than a hundred miles. The author writes down all his gains and losses during his thirty years of experience without reservation. All views and methods are derived from clinical practice and have been clinically tested, and they were used to overcome difficulties in the rest of his life. This book contains both theoretical discussion and clinical research: both successful experience and lessons from failure; it also contains clinical evidence of traditional Chinese medicine and new discussions on acupuncture methods and acupoint efficacy.
Reader comments
This book is great! The author's experience is so inspiring. He is physically disabled but mentally strong, and he travels around the countryside relying on crutches and bicycles. This spirit is so admirable. Moreover, he wrote down all his many years of acupuncture experience, and it felt like a master was imparting secrets. I think this book is a bit similar to the "Huangdi Neijing", both classics of traditional Chinese medicine. I particularly like the new discussion on acupuncture methods and acupoint effects. I feel it is very helpful for me to learn Chinese medicine.
This book is well written and worthy of study by beginners of Chinese medicine and Chinese medicine enthusiasts.
Thorough explanation, easy to understand, and essential!
