The Beloved Empress: A Yao-Yuan Romance of Fate

At their first meeting, the two strangers never expected their paths to cross. But after spending time together again and again, they came to understand each other’s hearts. After several days apart, she was forced to honor a political marriage agreement with Ye Chen. She tried every way she could to use the opportunity to escape along the way, but her clever scheme backfired and landed her in an even worse predicament. Fine, she accepted it. She had never met Crown Prince Ye Chen anyway. She could simply find him one day and lay everything out; they could part ways then. What she never expected was that the person who shared her feelings would turn out to be the Crown Prince of Ye Chen. Nie Xiyan was furious. Pointing at his nose, she demanded, “You lied to me?” The prince shamelessly replied, “My lady, we’re even. You hid your identity too, didn’t you?” She thought the two of them would be each other’s one true love for life. Sadly, she had imagined too much. After a long journey, his return turned her joy into utter disappointment. She witnessed with her own eyes the man she cherished marrying another woman. She asked him, “If one day you had to choose between power and me, what would you choose?” He was silent for a long while, then said, “Don’t worry. I won’t let that day come.” To her, his words were nothing but laughable. Before the three armies, she fell into enemy hands. On the city wall, with a sword at her throat, all she received was a heartless arrow, shot straight into her chest. The trust between them vanished completely. He ascended the throne, and in the end, he changed into someone she no longer recognized. With her homeland facing a powerful enemy, she watched the icy sword pierce her eldest brother’s heart. On the verge of collapse, she asked him through trembling lips, “Why would you do this...?” From then on, all she felt for him was hatred.
