Witness to Sino-Soviet Relations: Ten Years with the Translation Group of the CCP General Office (1957-1966)

Sino-Soviet relations were among China's most important foreign relationships in the twentieth century. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Central Translation Group, established by the General Office of the Central Committee, was responsible for translating Russian for central leaders. As head of the group, the author personally experienced many major historical events in the history of Sino-Soviet relations and witnessed the entire process by which the two parties and two countries went from friendship to rupture. The book reveals a wealth of valuable historical materials, little known to the public, concerning the international communist movement and Sino-Soviet relations. Rich in sources, vivid in detail, and full of feeling, it combines historical value, intellectual depth, and readability. It is a rare and excellent work for the study of Sino-Soviet relations, the history of the international communist movement, and the history of the Party and the nation.
