Miao Qiang is a chef. One night, while working the late shift, he encounters a procession of ghost soldiers. By a twist of fate, he becomes an underworld inspector and gets caught up in a case involving counterfeit ghost money.
With help from a beautiful, icy ghost, he discovers that the previous inspector's mysterious disappearance is closely connected to the counterfeit money case. And behind the whole affair lies an even greater conspiracy!
While investigating the case, Miao Qiang meets the mysterious Department 79. From then on, events spiral out of control...
A bloodstained human-skin garment, a butcher shop selling human flesh on Ghost Market's Grain Trade Street, a Yuan dynasty prince buried in a Warring States tomb, a three-lifetime ritual to become an immortal... What unknown secrets lie behind it all?
As the layers of the mystery are peeled away, the Other Shore Cult gradually emerges. Its four emissaries are Windcatcher, Shadowchaser, Black Impermanence, and White Impermanence. Its eight guardian kings include the Devas, Nagas, and Yakshas.
Faced with powerful adversaries and baffling, complex cases, what path will Miao Qiang take...? …
The chef knows magic, which is quite novel.
